Would John Kerry take the time to do this?

Above is a picture of Mike McNaughton of Denham Springs, LA. He stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan Christmas 2002. President Bush came to visit the wounded in the hospital. He told Mike that when he could run a mile that they would go on a run together. True to his word, he called Mike every month or so to see how he was doing. Well, last week they went on the run, 1 mile with the president. Not something you'll see in the news, but seeing the president taking the time to say thank you to the wounded and to give hope to one of my best friends was one of the greatest/best things I have seen in my life. It almost sounds like a corny email chain letter, but God bless him.

Would john kerry take a photo-op? I dont see why not. But he'd be more likely to talk about how most veterans dont get / cant afford such elaborate medical procedures.

Sorry Jeremy, you see those things are FREE to vets, I know I am a disabled vet myself. Anything related to a service connected injury is FREE. Sorry .

Well, i dont like Bush 2.0 but i will give him props for this. But yes, John Kerry would do the same. Kerry actually knows whats its like to be shot at in anger. GWB can't make the same claim.

You missed part of the post that is very important.. "True to his word, he called Mike every month or so to see how he was doing." As much as Kerry is anti-war I think that maybe this is the part you all seem to glance over.

I'm sure Kerry would do the same thing. After all, he sure didn't miss the photo op at the DNC with all his old army buddies on stage. The only difference is Kerry is a horn tooter and GW isn't. GCJ

Oh and BTW, I voted for ole Al but I'm sure glad that he didn't get in there. Had he have been elected alot of us wouldn't have legs. Our country would probably be just like Iraq. Bombs going off everywhere. GCJ

That was very nice of President Bush.

Would Kerry do the same? Maybe. There is nothing that shows he wouldn't. I'm sure if a similar opportunity presented itself, he would be equally empathetic.

I truly believe President Bush is a good-hearted person. I just don't think he's a very good president.

I agree, Kerry may have done the same thing but the difference would be we would all have already seen the pictures and video a million times by now. If Bush did this as a photo op, why haven't we seen it all over magazines and news already? I have never seen this picture before.

Just like the one of the President holding the girl who lost her mom in the 9/11 attacks, I am not cynical enough to feel it was a photo op. Matter of fact, the one with the little girl was only taken by her father. I think President Bush truly cares. I see nothing but a politician in Kerry.

And that is what is so odd about this. Kerry has made his Vietnam service such a center point of his campaign. And yet, at the end of the day, what actually was that service? 4 months in Vietnam with a crew that almost universally despises him as a liar and show boat. He takes advantage of the fact that most people think of Purple Hearts as being medals for serious wounds when, in his case, 1 of them may have been self-inflicted and the other 2 were for minor injuries.

Some of these people have a point. Isn't it possible that it was an elaborate plan by Bush to make it look sincere by not having these pictures plastered across every single magazine, so he used evil governmental powers to forbid the media from reporting on it, so now people think that he is sincere when he's around the American people?

Then again, GWB doesn't have to live with the knowledge that he committed atrocities, either. Kerry openly admitted to doing so, and now uses the same stint of service to validate himself as a "leader". Odd, somehow such a conflicted perspective on war doesn't make me feel so secure...
