This is a note to all of our fantastic military families out there that have loved ones serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
I recently (about March) began posting videos from the DOD on a YouTube Channel. I have over 100 now, with over 55,000 video views. The videos are ones you more than likely will not see on the news. I try to update it about every other day with new ones. But that is not the purpose of this article and I digress. A few weeks ago I got a message on my YouTube account from a young lady who was very excited and told me that I had posted a video of her Dad who she had not seen in almost a year! She was very grateful and wanted to know if I could keep an eye out for her Dad and if I found any more to let her know. That’s when I got several e-mails from other family members of this same soldier and I thought what a great thing. The soldier’s wife even wrote me an e-mail thanking me. I was touched, so I went digging and found several photos, about 10 videos and several audio interviews of this same soldier and I sent them to the family. What a great response I got! We have since begun to e-mail back and forth and just yesterday I sent them a new video. I have heard from his Wife, Sister, Sister-in-law, Daughter and Niece. What a treat!
So it gave me an idea. If I can search for one soldiers family why not others? I have press access to several DOD sites with images and videos and thought it would be a good way of helping out our military families here at home. So here is my idea..
If you have a loved one serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, drop me an e-mail with the service members first and last name and unit and I will search the press sites for images and videos to see if they are listed, if they are I will send you a note and let you know where to download the file from. My small way of saying thank you.
