Are they bias to the anti-war movement??
Published on October 4, 2007 By ShadowWar In The Media
I got an e-mail today from YouTube informing me that they had removed a video from my YouTube Channel (3rdID8487).  :mad The video was of a terrorist getting blown up by his own motar while trying to kill US Military members. The only reason they gave was that it violated the Code of Conduct of YouTube. I went and reviewed the Code of Conduct again (for like the 10th time) and could not find anywhere that I can see a violation.

Doing a little more research I found the very same video on 7 other YouTube Channels! I wonder why they could have it and not me? Is it because I post pro-military video's? Is it because its a video showing a terrorist getting killed? Can't be that, there are hunderds of those. The video has been up for a month and had over 8000 views and a 5 star rating. I have included a e-mail that I sent to YouTube asking for an explanation:

YouTube Team, (service@youtube.com)
I would like to know why my video was removed from my site for violation of Guidelines. I have found the very same video on at least 7 other YouTube Channels, and they are not being removed. And should not. Your Code of Conduct
states:

Graphic or gratuitous violence is not allowed. If your video shows someone getting hurt, attacked, or humiliated, don't post it. (It was neither graphic or gratuitous, no blood or gore, and no video of even a dead body, nothing!)

YouTube is not a shock site. Don't post gross-out videos of accidents, dead bodies and stuff like that. This includes war footage if it's intended to shock or disgust. (It was not shocking or gross, it was an explosion in which no bodies, or body parts or anything else can be seen, it does not fit this or any other of the CoC list)

I read over the Guidelines and there is absolutly no violation that I can find. There was no blood or gore, no profanity or nudity. Nothing. And yet you saw fit to remove my video?

Is it because I am a pro-US Military Channel? I find that idea very very scary, that you would edit my channel because of that. I will be contacting the various national news media outlets and radio stations to put this story out for them to see. Unless of course you can give a logical explanation for why it was removed, or put it back on my channel.

Here are the other places on YouTube the very same video appears:

I will await your reply before I contact my media contacts. That video had over 8000 views and a 5 star rating.
Maybe you all should review your policy on removing videos based on your opinion of the military or the War in Iraq and not on real violations of your CoC. I have been very careful not to violate the CoC. I have over 430 videos posted and can not imagine how you singled this one out and removed it before checking your own CoC.

Respectfully,
3rdID8487.

Here is a Google search showing the video information:

So what do you think? Why the 7 others are OK and mine was not? Why selective censorship??

More than likely they just weren't aware of the other ones. I don't know. They are a private company so they are within their rights to not allow certain types of content.

I am pro-military but I don't really want to see ANYONE getting blown up. Yuck.

Hi TW,

Thats part of the point, it was not bloody or gory or anything. Not a single frame of blood or guts. Just a quick explosion and then nothing. That what makes this so wierd.. I don't have any bloody gory stuff up on my channel

Whether I can see body parts flying, I don't want to watch someone getting killed.  I know that's the reality of war but it seems to me from their terms of use that that's not what they want youtube to be about.  They say no showing someone getting hurt.  Well I think someone getting killed is worse than getting hurt.

How would you feel if there were a video posted on Youtube showing an American soldier being killed in the same manner?  IMO, that would be anti-military.

Odds are good that since you drew their attention to the other 7 channels it will probably get pulled from them as well. YouTube has so many videos being uploaded every day it's impossible for them to review each and every one.

Yours probably got pulled first because someone reported it to them. Even though it may not show any gore, it's obvious that it's a video of someone getting killed and is in violation of the spirit of their terms. I've never known YouTube to carry on any sort of political campaign or bias so I wouldn't feel too singled out.

I'd be willing to bet the others will be gone within a few days.

They have videos of dead soldiers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvKEk_D88bs been up 8 months and 59,000+ views.. which is worse than what I showed, Mine did not even show a body, just the explosion.

How about a US Soldier getting blown up?? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQyl49ZQN3Q

Thats what pisses me off about this. Mine was very clean and non-gore/bloody. The one above is an actual terrorist video posted showing US Soldiers getting blown up!!!! ANd its been there 4 months!

Report that shit, SW!

I have TW I have, but they stay up, thats what makes all this seem so strange to me.. I am really worried they are going to take down my entire channel. I don't know if yo saw it on the news (Fox) but they showed a video of a van full of terrorist getting hit by a bomb from a plane. I have that on my site(had it before Fox) but if they are against videos of people dieing (you do not see anyone die in teh van video just the explosion, just like the one they removed) will they pull the one that made national TV also?? And leave the others up?? I am at a loss, I need help from people to report the other ones then..

If you know about them you should report them as they are all obviously in violation of their terms. As I stated, it's impossible for them to review all of the videos on that site. They rely on people reporting the violations.

Missed it, sorry. I doubt they are singling you out. I'd continue to report them and see what happens, and file a complaint with them if nothing does.

I tracked the vid down finally and can say God truly is great!! hahahahahahah
I do not have a problem with seeing a terrorist getting blown to bits from a defective mortar round. What kind of people sit in the background chanting God is great while killing people?
