Allow officers to carry firearms on domestic flights.

COps and Agents should be carrying on flights for added safety.

Being concerned citizens of the United States of America,
and being concerned with our safety during airline travel within our nations borders,
recognizing the increased threat of international and domestic terrorism, recognizing the threat of terrorist using aircraft as weapons or the threat of aircraft hijackings,
also wishing to increase the number of people able to help during incidents of air piracy, terrorism or violent acts against airlines flight crews,
we the signers of this petition request that our nations law makers consider enacting laws/ regulations or policies that:

1. Allow off duty city, state and federal police officers to carry concealed firearms while flying on commercial airlines within the continental United States on domestic flights.
2. Allow members of the United States military who’s position requires or allow it, to carry a concealed firearms while traveling on commercial airlines within the continental United States on domestic flights.

The restrictions would require that the police officers, federal officers, and military personnel that wish to carry firearms on airlines flights be pre-registered with the Federal Aviation Administration and have on record a copy of their identification or credentials (including a photograph). Also that this database is accessible by the airlines and be created to facilitate the verification of this information at the ticketing counters and security checkpoints.

That prior to boarding a flight that the officer carrying a concealed firearm complete and sign a form stating who they are, what agency they work for, and that they are carrying a concealed firearm and that a copy of this form be given to the pilot of the aircraft prior to boarding the aircraft.

In addition the officer agrees to keep the firearm concealed and secure at all times while onboard the aircraft, and to only use the firearm in cases of danger to aircraft, the air crew or actions that could result in the destruction or hijacking of the aircraft.

In light of the fact off duty police officers already have the right to carry concealed firearms throughout the United States and we are asking this be extended to the skies above the United States also.

Exclusions would include international flights that originate in the United States and leave US Airspace.

By signing this petition I am requesting this issue be addressed by our legislators and the proper laws, regulations or policies be enacted to make this issue into law.
