How they talk about each others military service.

OK I have to say I now find the news coverage about the military services records of both men overblown, overdone and completly a turn off to having me listen to the news. I hear about either sides military record, I turn the news off.

But I did find it interesting how the two men have such different outlooks on the others military service.

John Kerry has questioned President Bushes service several times:

When asked about the veracity of the anti-Bush ads yesterday, Mr. Kerry twice told an Associated Press reporter: "That's for the White House to answer."

For more than six months, John Kerry has been questioning whether Mr. Bush fulfilled his military obligations after transferring from one National Guard unit in Texas to another in Alabama. The White House says the president's honorable discharge is proof that he fulfilled his duties. "Was he present and active on duty in Alabama at the times he was supposed to be?" Mr. Kerry demanded in February. "Just because you get an honorable discharge does not, in fact, answer that question."

Yet when President Bush was asked about Kerry's record you get this response:

"His going to Vietnam was more heroic than my flying fighter jets," Mr. Bush told NBC on Aug. 28. "He was in harm's way; I wasn't."

"I think Senator Kerry served admirably," Mr. Bush replied on Aug. 23. "He ought to be proud of his record."

I have to say that Kerry sure likes to cry foul and bash the other people, but they (The President) in turn are not doing the same to him. They are praising his service, publicly. So who is the bigger man? In my humble opinion, Bush is the bigger man, he refuses to bash Kerry's record even though Kerry is bashing his. Shows the difference in the men that I find interesting.

You saw the RNC? Did you notice the agressive comments made by the speakers but how Bush only referred to Kerry indirectly? Very calculated.

Four months ago is a long time in campaigning. I remember when this first came up about Bush's records, Kerry said, "I don't want to go there," which is consistent with his current statement.

Four months ago? Am I missing something here?

Dates I see referenced are 7 months ago and within the past 3 weeks. ShadowWar is quite correct about the difference in substance and tone when the two candidates are asked about each other's military service.

What did they use TI-83s or the old plain vanilla Scientific ones?

Good article and point, ShadowWar, from a non-partisan view, if Kerry wanted to stay the bigger man, back when he first said I didn't want to go there, he should have immediately and swiftly dealt with anybody who wanted to do otherwise, but the fact that he has not, just discredits him as a man of his word.

As for Bush, he did condemn all 527 ads, which are a problem on both sides, and said openly that Kerry served honorably, words that have not come out of Kerry's mouth about Bush.

So in the end Bush looks like a bigger (not fatter) man when it comes down to it.

As for "The difference between John Kerry and George Bush."
