BAGHDAD, Iraq – Task Force Baghdad Soldiers guarding the entrance to a military base in east Baghdad foiled a car bomb attack May 1.
At 7:15 a.m., a red Kia sedan exploded approximately 15 feet short of a barrier in front of the gate to the installation. The car bomb failed to detonate properly and caught on fire. Soldiers manning the gate reacted quickly and saved the driver. Even though the driver had just attempted to blow up a VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers pulled the driver from the vehicle and began to administer first aid to him.
The photo is of 3rd ID Soldiers administering first aid to the driver. The driver was transported for further treatment and is cooperating with military authorities. Giving some very interesting information on the new tactic employed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Initial investigation has revealed that the driver’s family had been kidnapped and he was being forced to carry out this mission to keep them safe. The driver alleges that his family is being threatened by people associated with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. This is another indicator that the Task Force is putting a dent in the Terrorist activities. The Abu Musab al-Zarqawi group is having to force people to be suicide bombers, and doing this by threatening family members to force Iraqis to commit acts against the Iraqi Government and TFB assets.
“This is another case where Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has to extort men to carry out his indiscriminate slaughtering. He can’t recruit volunteers; he is resorting to forcing Iraqi civilians to carry out these mission by threatening harm to kidnapped family members,” said Col. Joe DiSalvo, Commander, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
The photo below is of the vehicle after the driver was pulled to safety.
You have to hand it to the soldiers involved in this incident. One minute they are pulling duty, the next someon tries to blow up a VBIED and kill them and the next they are trying to save the driver life. Our young men and women show everyday what makes them the best fighting force in the world. Its acts like this that show the world that they are the great and caring people they are. Professional every step of the way and yet, the toughest fighting force there is. There were no U.S. or Iraqi Forces injured in this attack. Hoooooahhhhh!!

And again Rieki-House, you use your gift of selective comprehension and miss the entire part of how the troops from Task Force Baghdad saved the life of their would-be attacker.
Are you so filled with bile that you can't even read a positive article without reacting negatively to it? If the attack was successful, you would be revelling in the deaths of U.S. troops, drinking in their blood with every word you read. It must just kill you everytime ShadowWar shows that you and the lying germs in the press are ignorant beyond words.
Go back to the worm infested cesspool from which you oozed, you conteptuous pinworm!!
