Has anyone here heard that Attacks against Iraqi civilians are down about 20 percent, and civilian deaths are down 30 percent nationwide? How about in Baghdad, attacks against civilians are down 20 percent, with deaths down 50 percent? I didn't think so.     Attacks using explosively formed projectiles(AFP's) are also down, from 38 in December to 22 this month, though the number of attacks against coalition forces has remained constant.   High-profile attack...

Well I am sure that there are those that will say this is really nothing more than propaganda from the military propaganda machine, and that it will have no impact what so ever on the over picture. But if you believe it happened as they say then it realy seems like a good haul. Responsible for 900 deaths and more than 1900 injuries. But read into these news releases even more. How do they know these two are part of a "cell" and how do they know who they were BEFORE they were captured. A...

IBM with the backing of DARPA have developed a optical networking chip that can transmit data at 160 Gb/sec!! The possabilites are endless. Look for more on this soon in the news and on the net.

You may or may not have heard of the VBIED (Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Device) that blew up on Sunday in Baghdad in the Azamiyah neighborhood market area. What makes this one a little different from the others is the tactic that was used to get the vehicle through a US manned checkpoint. The driver and adult passenger of the vehicle had two children in the back seat of the vehicle. They were waved through the checkpoint as troops have a tendency to be less suspicious of vehicles with...

Even as many in the media and other news sources are telling us that the “surge” may not be working fast enough or to the extent that it was expected to, it appears that the terrorist and Sunni iraqi’s think something is happening.   It seems that Iraqi’s, specifically Sunni’s in the al-Anbar Province are beginning to take part in getting rid of al-Qaeda. It seems that the members of two Iraqi Sunni tribes (the Abu Dhiyab and the Kartan al-Jazirah tribes) have had e...

Two former Marines who now work for the DOD as web masters in Iraq have come up with a unique idea to try and get information in the form of videos from the military out to the general public. Erick Barnes and Brent Walker are the webmasters for the Operation Iraqi Freedom web site (http://www.mnf-iraq.com/). They are civilian employees of the Department of Defense. They came up with the idea to use the popularity of current video web site YouTube to spread the word about what’s ...

The Department of defense, Multi-National Force - Iraq has decided to use the power of the Internet to get its word out. In an effort to share the news and videos that many have not had access to, MNF-I has created its own YouTube Channel. Problem is no one knows about it yet. Having been on only since March 7th, they only have 50 subscribers so far, but slightly over 2000 page views. While not a record by any means, it is a start. What a fantastic idea. If the MNF-I has the sucess that some of...

Recently I let the whining of an person who rather than discuss the issue at hand ran off crying about plagerism to the admins drive me from my blog. I was ready to turn in my blogging keyboard. Then I sat down and really looked at what was wrong here. I then decided that I was not going to let one little whiner(or two, or three...) run me off of my own blog. As I thoguht about it I really came to the realization that my blog is more for me than him. Why let someone else tell you how to ...

Are we facing a new and increasing type of criminal/ terrorist act? Is there reason for concern of the general public at large? Should we begin to prepare ourselves for the possibility of bigger and more spectacular attacks? When Sulejmen Talovic entered the Trolley Square mall in Salt Lake City Monday night with a shotgun, a pistol, and a backpack full of ammunition, he intended to “kill a large number of people,” according to Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank. Talovic kille...
